Allen-Bradley, a leading brand in industrial automation, recently announced an alternative to its 2711-B6C20 PanelView 600 operator terminal. Although the operator terminal with the 6-inch color screen has been officially discontinued since December 31, 2012, given its importance in industrial control systems, Allen-Bradley has provided a solution to meet the needs of existing users.
The 2711-B6C20, part of the PanelView 600 subcategory, has a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels, an active matrix TFT display, and a cold cathode fluorescence (CCF) backlight. The screen has an effective display area of 115 x 87 mm and an estimated backlit half-life of 50,000 hours at 25°C. This terminal also has a keyboard and touch dual input mode, providing flexible operation options.
Although the original manufacturer has discontinued the product, some specialty suppliers such as DO Supply may still offer surplus and/or refurbished 2711-B6C20L1 replacement units rather than migrating to other products. However, it is important to note that since these products may be used surplus supplies, the original manufacturer’s warranty does not apply.
For users who need to continue using or upgrade the 2711-B6C20, Allen-Bradley recommends considering its next-generation PanelView terminal or other compatible alternatives. These new products will not only be able to provide similar functionality, but may also include more advanced technology and improved performance.
