ABB, the world’s leading provider of electrical products and automation solutions, today announced the addition of the PFVL141V-16MN, a high-precision product, to its Millmate family of rolling force sensors. This new sensor is designed to meet the needs of the steel and non-ferrous metal rolling industry for high precision and high stability measurements.
The PFVL141V-16MN sensor uses ABB’s unique Pressductor® technology, which is based on magnetoelastic effects, in which the magnetic properties of a material are affected by the mechanical forces to which it is subjected. When the sensor is subjected to mechanical forces, it produces measurement signals that do not depend on physical motion or deformation, resulting in extremely high sensitivity and excellent tolerance for overload, as well as an almost unlimited number of load cycles.
The sensor has a measurement range of 0.63 to 56 MN, an accuracy class of ±0.5% Fnom, a linear deviation of no more than ±0.5% Fnom, a lag of no more than 0.2% Fnom, and a repeatability error of no more than ±0.1% Fnom. In addition, PFVL141V-16MN exhibits excellent stability over the operating temperature range -10 to +90°C, with zero and sensitivity drifts of no more than ±0.01%/°C.
ABB’s Millmate series of sensors are renowned for their performance and reliability in industrial weighing and process control. The addition of PFVL141V-16MN further enrichis ABB’s product line and provides more options for force measurement of mill stands. The sensor’s digital output makes data acquisition and processing easier, while also enabling seamless integration with modern industrial automation systems.
ABB’s PFVL141V-16MN sensor is expected to play an important role in improving the precision and efficiency of the rolling process, while also bringing improved product quality and production efficiency to the rolling industry.
