Description
Another layer of security is the mutual monitoring of the two introduced safety chains to ensure that the circuit is
formed within a short time of each other. Failure to meet minimum standards means that one or more devices in the
chain begin to fail and need to be replaced.
As you can imagine, there are a lot of things inside a safety relay, but connecting everything in series means that while
one may know that something in the circuit has or is failing, it won’t tell you exactly what the failure is. Lengthy troubleshooting is
then required to identify the fault before it can be corrected. This is where the discussion of security controllers comes in.
In the sense of a programmable logic controller (PLC), a controller brings a single device into a control platform where algorithms
programmed on that platform make things happen. For example, a switch turns on a light bulb.

Security controllers start with the same concept, where each security device has its own definable security algorithm input.
Write logic to decide what to do with each safety device and how it will affect the output circuit of the safety controller. In this way,
a combination of input devices can be used to create an area on the machine where the output power can be enabled and disabled independently of other areas on the machine or process.
