TC-306-02: Used for input modules (DI: T8402 and T8403 or AI: T8431 and T8433) TC-308-02: Used for output modules (DO: T8451, T8461 or T8471)

1) Identify the slot containing the faulty module to be replaced. Identify and note module types and models.

2) Identify the smart slot for placing the replacement module.

– If a smart slot already contains an active module, the slot will be used as a replacement for a previously failed I/O module and will not replace other modules.

– If the smart slot contains a standby module, remove the standby module.

– The smart slot must be empty to continue.

3) Open the cabinet door and swing the frame. Connect one end of the corresponding smart slot cable to the rear of the I/O cable cover on the back of the case where the faulty module is installed. Connect the other end to the empty smart slot in the chassis. Secure the cable using the screws provided.

4) Install the same spare replacement module in the smart slot. If the original module fails, the standby module automatically goes into standby state and educates. After the education process is complete, the new module will automatically activate and take over control.

5) Once the original module is in standby state and the standby module is active, you can use the eject key and release lever to remove the faulty original module.
