The EL5101 Football Club Ethernet Cat terminal is an interface used to directly connect incremental encoders with differential signals (RS422) or TTL single-ended signals. Input frequency up to 1 MHz can be evaluated. Two additional 24 V numeric quantity inputs can be used to reverse, lock, and set the counter state. The error message output of the encoder can be connected and evaluated by the input state. 5 V and 24 V power supplies for the encoder can be supplied directly through the terminal connection point.

In addition, EL5101 allows measurement of periods or frequencies with a resolution of 100 ns. The EL5101 can even provide more precise shaft positions for dynamic shafts with the help of optional interpolated micro-increments. It also supports high precision EtherCAT Distributed Clock (DC) synchronous reading of encoder values and other input data in the EtherCAT system. A timestamp of the last registered incremental edge is also available. The use of encoder profiles enables motion control applications to link process data easily and quickly.
