Description

Central processing unit CPU 948R, replacing 6ES5948-3UR21 and 6ES5948-3UR22 – wide models
The following versions of CPU948-3UR23 are available as compatible redundant pairs:
3, 4, and 5, with new version 6 cpus
Older CPU versions 1 and 2 are not compatible with newer versions.

These versions can only be updated offline
Update steps when version %3C= 5
Replace the first CPU 948:
Several modules must be replaced as follows:
. Switch the standby CPU 948R to the stopped state

Power off (power off).
Unplug the CPU module (note the EGB instructions)
Install the first CPU 948:
Plug the updated CPU 948 module into the closed rack component
Set the run mode switch to the stop position.
Turn on the power module.
Reset CPU 948(“urlschen “); Switch the run mode switch from stop to Run start CPU 948

while holding the switch position at “urlschen” (Hold the switch position at “reset” and switch the

run mode switch from Run to stop and then back to run). A new CPU is being updated.
After startup, the CPU is in standby mode
